2019 Meeting Dates & Events:
May 15th – Open for the Season (Wednesday to Sunday)
May 20th – “Wrap Up Meeting” for 2019 School Tours, 12:30 PM at the Barn in the Munro Building.
June 9th – Volunteer Picnic & Auction, Munro Building. Social hour/preview of items at noon, picnic begins at 1:00 PM and auction starts at 2:00 PM (donated auction items needed).
June 19-20 – The Thumb Octagon Barn & Grounds are closed.
July 13th & 14th – Music Weekend in the Barn – Free Attendance, finger foods and soft drinks will be served at intermission. Saturday, July 13- Country music with D.J and dancing 7-9 PM. Dancing instructor will teach various dances.
Sunday, July 14th – Gospel Music 2-4 PM.
July 24th – Themed Tea Party: Jams, Jellies & Preserves. $15 per person, contact Rose Putman 989-444-9574. Event starts at 12:30 PM. NOTE- REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
July 27th & 28th – Open House Weekend, free tours, regular hours
August 24th – Teamwork and Timbers – Learn the art of timber framing (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM). Children ages 10 years and up. $10 pre-register. Contact Rose Putman 989-444-9574.
September 6, 2019 – Fish Fry from 4-7 PM in the Munro Building
September 7-8, 2019 – Fall Family Days. Step back in time during the 24th annual Fall Family Days held at the Thumb Octagon Barn. Through displays and demonstrations the color and mood of farming in the early 1900’s comes to life. Large flea market, antique vendors and crafters on site. Hours are 8 AM to 5 PM. Please note: parking and traffic for Fall Family Days must enter and exit only from Bay City-Forestville Road.
September 30th – Closing for the Season
Site Tours 2019:
We are open for the season. The Friends welcome visitors to the site from May 15th through September 30th. New hours are: Wednesday-Saturday 11 AM – 5PM, Sunday Noon-5PM.
Closed Monday & Tuesday.
Guided Tours are $5.00 per person (children 6 and under are free) and can be arranged for groups of 10 or more by calling 702-826-1908 or use the Contact page to email the Events Chair. Several weeks notice of a planned visit is suggested when date and length of time on site can be discussed. The tour of both the barn and house generally takes about 90 minutes but can be adjusted depending on available time for your group’s visit. We graciously accept donations for site tours; they are used for site improvements and additions. Also, the Octagon Barn site can be reserved for large group picnics, reunions, and other group gatherings. Guidelines, expenses and restrictions can be obtained by calling 702-826-1908 or use the Contact page to reach the Events Chair.
Rentals: The Thumb Octagon Barn site is available for special events, from family picnics, reunions, and wedding, to club and group parties. For availability and questions, please call 989-665-0081.
