5-24-16 Update:
After having a terrific School Tours 2016, it is time to reflect on what happened to make the event so great and what educational things can be done to enhance and add to School Tours 2017.  Wrap up meeting will be held for School Tours 2016 on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, 12:30 PM at the Barn.  Please plan on attending or emailing to me (Diane Rapson Gabil) your thoughts on the event and the future ideas.

Thanks again for all the wonderful work of all the Volunteers!

4/21/16 UPDATE:
There are 1,316 pre-school through 8th grade students registered for School Tours 2016.   They will be chaperoned by 421 parents and educators.  These students come from 9 Counties, including Huron, Tuscola, Sanilac, Bay, Saginaw, Arenac, Lapeer, Oakland, and St. Clair.  During School Tours 2016 about 400 volunteers will be on site helping all the students learn more about rural Michigan in the early 1900’s.

More information about this years event:
“Our Wonderful World of Water !” is this years theme and takes place Wednesday May 11, Thursday May 12 and Friday May 13, 2016.  Tours begin each day at 8:30 AM; with last tour starting at 1 PM.

This is an educational field trip for students (PS through 8th grade) of rural life in Michigan in the early 1900’s.  More than 20 interactive stations help educate the students on how life has changed from then to now.  Educators preregister for what stations they wish their students to visit.  Donation fee is $2 per student/chaperone.  Registration is required.

Reservations for guided tours are limited to 1500 pre-school to 8th grade students.  For information contact Diane Rapson Gabil at 989-892-3105.  In mid June, we will be posting the dates and reservation information for the 2017 School Tours.  Thank you!
